Restoring Lost Volume with Temple Filler at Boston Medical Aesthetics

Located in the heart of Boston, Boston Medical Aesthetics specializes in advanced aesthetic treatments tailored to your unique beauty goals. Our experienced providers use FDA-approved dermal fillers to carefully restore volume to hollow temples, enhancing your natural features and achieving a more balanced appearance.

    What is Temple Filler?

Temple filler is a non-surgical treatment designed to restore volume to hollow or sunken temples, which often occur with age. Using advanced dermal fillers, our injectors smooth and fill in lost volume in the temple area, creating a more youthful and harmonious appearance. The procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and offers long-lasting results with little to no downtime.

    Juvéderm Voluma

Juvéderm Voluma is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler specifically designed for deep tissue volumization. Its smooth gel formula integrates seamlessly into the skin, providing instant lift and volume to the temples. Results from Voluma can last 12-18 months, making it an excellent choice for those seeking long-lasting rejuvenation.

    Sculptra

Sculptra is a unique dermal filler composed of poly-L-lactic acid that stimulates collagen production to gradually restore lost volume. It replenishes hollow areas and improves skin texture over time. Unlike traditional fillers, which provide immediate volume, Sculptra works gradually to enhance the skin's appearance by promoting natural collagen growth. Results develop over time and can last up to three years, offering a natural, long-lasting solution for temple rejuvenation. If this concept interests you, we highly recommend visiting our Sculptra page to learn more and booking a consultation to see how Sculptra can benefit you.

Our providers will carefully assess your goals and skin condition to ensure you are matched with the safest and most effective treatments for your needs.

    Consultation and Preparation

During your consultation for temple filler Boston facial contouring experts at BMA will assess your facial structure and discuss your beauty goals. They will take the time to answer all of your questions, educate you about your treatment options, and help you understand the results you can expect to achieve. To prepare for the procedure, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements, such as aspirin or fish oil, for at least a week before your appointment.

Please refer to our Pre- and Post-care instructions page of our website for further information.

    Procedure

The temple filler procedure is quick and minimally invasive, typically lasting around 30-45 minutes. If desired, your provider can apply a topical numbing agent to your skin beforehand for added comfort. They will then use a fine needle or cannula to inject your chosen dermal filler into the temple area, using expert techniques to achieve a natural, smooth result. Two sessions may be needed to achieve optimal results.

    Results, Recovery, and Aftercare

You will be able to return to your daily activities immediately after your appointment. Swelling or bruising may occur at the treatment site but typically resolves within several days. Your injector will give you detailed aftercare instructions, including not touching or massaging the treated area for 24 hours and refraining from strenuous activities, excessive heat exposure, and alcohol consumption for 24-48 hours.

You will enjoy your refreshed, youthful contours for several months to years. Periodic touch-up treatments help you enjoy long-lasting rejuvenation.

    Filler Pre-Care Instructions

The following are important treatment instructions for you to understand to help avoid unsatisfactory results and complications.

    • Injectable fillers cannot be done if you have had any dental procedures, including routine cleanings two weeks before or after your filler appointment.
    • If you are taking medications that may prolong bleeding, you may experience increased bruising at the injection site. You must avoid aspirin, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, etc.), vitamin E, fish oil, ginger, ginkgo, green tea, garlic, ginseng, or St. John’s Wort for 10 days prior to your treatment. PLEASE INFORM US IF YOU ARE TAKING ONE OF THESE BEFORE YOU ARE INJECTED. If you are prescribed any of these medications by a different physician, you must consult with them prior to stopping any medication.
    • Arnica Forte tablets contain the herb Arnica and the pineapple-derived enzyme Bromelain, which help to minimize bruising and swelling. They can be taken one day before and up to seven days after your procedure.
    • If a laser treatment, chemical peel, or any other procedure based on active dermal response is considered three to seven days before or after an injectable filler treatment, there is a possible risk of an inflammatory reaction at the treatment site.
    • Injectable fillers should be used with caution in patients on immunosuppressive therapy, or therapy used to decrease the body’s immune response, as there may be an increased risk of infection.
    • The safety of injectable fillers for use during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in patients under 18 years has not been established.
    • The safety of injectable fillers in patients with a history of excessive scarring (e.g., hypertrophic scarring and keloid formations) and pigmentation disorders have not been studied.
    • If you are prone to cold sores, please inform your provider. Antiviral medication may be recommended prior to your procedure.

    Filler Post-Care Instructions

    • It is normal to be somewhat red, tender, and swollen for several hours to days after filler injection, and bruising is always possible. It is advised that you continue to ice the area for one to three hours at 15-minute intervals, or as directed by the providers at Boston Medical Aesthetics. The lips may be tender and swollen for several days, if injected.
    • Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (like Celebrex) for 24 hours to minimize bruising
    • No alcohol, no smoking, no nicotine, for 24 hours
    • No vigorous exercise for 24 hours
    • Keep the skin clean and makeup-free for 24 hours. Do not use any skincare products for 24 hours. Avoid touching the treated area and keep hair and cell phone away from your skin.
    • No dental procedures, including routine cleanings, for two weeks after filler.
    • Do not massage HA fillers or Radiesse unless specifically advised by your medical provider. Massaging these fillers can unintentionally displace the filler and cause more bruising and swelling.
